John E. Boyer

Age 76, of Joliet, IL, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  John was born in Effingham, IL, to the late Paul and Marie (nee Duling) Boyer.  He was raised in Strasburg, IL, and was a graduate of STEW-STRAS High School.

John was employed by Caterpillar Inc., in various capacities, until retiring after over 30 years of service.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and was thrilled to have lived long enough to see the Chicago Cubs finally win a world series.

John was the beloved father of Kevin (Tamara) Boyer, Gregory Boyer, Jeff Boyer, Sean (Shenna) Boyer and Hayley Boyer; loving grandfather of Zachary, Alyssa and Sloane Boyer and soon to be great-grandpa of his first great grandson due in June.  Also surviving are his brother and sisters, David (Diana) Boyer, Nancy Boyer, Suzanne (Gene) McIntyre, Linda (Jacques) Huber, Marilee (Jim) Piot, Julia (Pat) Bryan, Paula (Ron) Jones; sister-in-law Lorelei Boyer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Boyer.

As it was Mr. Boyer’s request, cremation rites will be accorded.  Services will be held privately, with a scattering ceremony on the shores of Lake Michigan, at a later date.  Fred C.
