Obituary of John H. Nelson

John H. Nelson, a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away at the age of 69, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, on Friday, January 17, 2025. John was born on August 29, 1955, the son of Ross and Marie (nee Runyon) Nelson.

John was an Electrical Engineer and retired from Com Ed after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Southside Civic Club and the Meneoka Club in Wilmington where he loved to fish. John also enjoyed to golf and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

John is survived by his children, Kevin Nelson, Kathryn (Anthony) Hurley, and Robert (Brooke) Nelson; loving Pop Pop of  Andrew Koschetz, Ryan Hurley, Jameson Nelson, and Raegan Nelson; mother, Marie Nelson; brother, Mike Nelson; and sisters, Roslyn Nelson, and Kim Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Nelson.

As it was John’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services.
