Obituary of Nina Claire Lennon
Nina Claire Lennon, aged 46, of Muskegon, MI, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.
Nina was born on March 27,1978 in Long Beach, CA, to Michael John and Jean Elaine Lennon (nee Schoffstoll). She was raised in California, later moving to Illinois where she met her steadfast partner for life, George Raymond Coley and began her lifelong journey as an artist. Nina & George eventually landed in Muskegon, Michigan where they enjoyed a peaceful “lake life” existence living only minutes from the water. Nina attended St. Francis University in Joliet, Illinois where she graduated with a degree in Marketing and Fine Arts. During her time at St. Francis, Nina had the opportunity to develop her inherent gifts as a vocalist and artist; studying opera, jazz, drawing, painting, and sculpture. She spent a pivotal semester abroad in Florence, Italy, where her love for art, language, and culture flourished. She returned to the US fluent in Italian, and ready to launch. She would go on to have success in multiple ventures involving both business and art.
Nina sowed seeds of joy, laughter, and passion for life into everyone she came in contact with. She had an uncanny ability to make those around her feel valued, important, and seen. Everyone who knew her will remember Nina as a fierce warrior who never backed down from a physical challenge. This was especially exemplified in the last four years of health struggles. Nina was—and still is in the hearts of those who knew her—a rare and beautiful gift to the world.
Nina is survived by her beloved husband, George; her kitty, Ichi; her puppy, Moji; her mother and father; her brother, Brian Michael Lennon; her sister, Megan Christina Lennon; her nieces, Shiva, Demetria, and Una Lennon-Rios; her nephew, Aurelius Lennon-Rios, and host of other Lennon, Schoffstoll, and Coley relatives.
Memorial services will be held at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home at 3200 Black Road Joliet, Illinois on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
