Obituary of Louise Sharon Chinderle
Louise Sharon Chinderle
(nee Swierz)
Louise Sharon Chinderle passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was born on September 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy (nee Lewis) Swierz.
Sharon is survived by her son, Peter (Donna) Chinderle; and grandchildren Sarah Volante and Alex (Alysia) Volante.
She is preceded by her adoring husband, Ronald J. Chinderle; and her brother Frederick Swierz.
Sharon was born and raised in Joliet, graduating from Joliet Township High School with the Class of 1960. Sharon and Ron married in 1972 and made Lockport their home where they raised Pete, and also at times throughout the years, her stepchildren Candace, Cathleen, Richard, Charlene, Christine, and Ron Jr. She worked in the school library during Pete’s elementary years. Being a librarian was a perfect fit because she was a lifelong, avid reader. Sharon eagerly looked forward to new novels released by her favorite authors, and her collection of bookmarks also went hand-in-hand with her love of reading. Many of these bookmarks are souvenirs from another one of her interests: travel.
Sharon and Ron spent many summers on fishing trips in Michigan and Wisconsin, and Sharon also traveled often with her mom and brother. As Pete grew up, he and his mom took trips together, often visiting their favorite place, Walt Disney World. Whether it was just Sharon and Pete or the whole family, Disney trips created special memories that will always be thought of fondly.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with family and staying close to her best friend and cousin, Donna Hylka. She looked forward to the luncheons when all the cousins would get together and was always ready to attend a party and celebrate holidays with family. Her brother-in-law Jake made Christmas Eve dinner a tradition she dearly loved to attend, and Christmas Day and Easter usually ended with spirited games of Left Center Right where she ruthlessly took everyone’s money in her winnings.
She was also a formidable opponent in her family’s Fantasy Football League. She came to draft day prepared with research and she always finished the season somewhere in the top three, but Sharon was an all-around sports fan. If she wasn’t watching a detective or crime program on television, she would be watching sports. Although tennis and golf were her favorites, she also followed football and basketball -- both pro and college games.
In later years, Sharon found a lot of enjoyment in keeping up with the busy lives of loved ones on social media. She enjoyed the opportunity to live somewhat vicariously through the posts and photos of friends and family and to share in the joys of their experiences. Facebook made her feel included, and she truly did “like” every one of those photos.
Sharon was a gentle, kind person who made friends wherever she went. A true bright light in the world.
