Obituary of Judith L. Boylan

Judith L. Boylan, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at her home in Crest Hill, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Cleveland, OH, on September 12, 1944, the daughter of the late Robert and Georgia (nee Sprankle) Williams.

Judy grew up in Joliet, graduating from Joliet Township H.S. in 1963. She received a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree from Southern Illinois University.

As a passionate leader in the classroom, she taught English at Romeoville H.S. for 24 years and was a beloved coach of the speech team.  After retirement, she continued teaching as an associate professor at Joliet Junior College. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Rho chapter where she served as president.

Judy enjoyed golf, travel, time with her family, and adventures with friends. She had the ability to make others laugh.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Beth Boylan-Kane; son-in-law, Thomas Kane; granddaughter, Emma Kane; nephew, Tom Williams; his wife, Laina; and their daughter, Lauren.

Visitation will be held at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd), Joliet, on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at St Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave., New Lenox.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
