Marilyn Carlson Winters
Marilyn Carlson Winters, Age 96, of Morris, Illinois, died on Thursday January 30, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 15, 1928, in Morris to the late Leslie and Frieda (Kollman) Peacock. She was a 1946 graduate of Morris High School.
In 1948, she married Bennett L. Carlson of Morris. They lived in Morris, IL, Aurora, IL and York, PA before he retired from Caterpillar in 1986. They returned to Morris where he preceded her in death in 1989.
She married John D. Winters of Peoria, IL in 1992. They had since resided in Morris and were able to travel extensively together until John passed in 2009.
A member of First Presbyterian Church in Morris, she was also an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora and Eastminster Presbyterian Church in York while living in those cities.
She had worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Morris and at West Aurora High School while residing in those communities. She was an active member of Child Welfare Society and PEO Sisterhood, Chapterss LB & MD. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Kenneth Carlson of Salem, IN and Paul (Letha) Carlson of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Monica Smith, Matthew (Dawn) Carlson, Sara Carlson, Brendan Carlson and Devin Carlson; great-grandchildren, Anna Saez, Adrianna Smith; Jacob, Miles and Kaila Carlson. Also surviving are John's daughter and son, Sue (Tom) Davis and David (Marilyn) Winters and their families.
A Memorial Service for Marilyn Carlson Winters is being planned for the near future, and as her tribute dates are confirmed, the obituary will be updated.
