Obituary of Alma L. Orlow

Age 94, of Plainfield and formerly Burbank, Illinois, passed peacefully, Friday evening, January 31, 2025 at Lightways Hospice Home of Joliet.

Surviving are her daughter, Kim Granata; grandchildren, Michael (Rita) Christiano, Kristen (Joel) Self and R.J. Granata; great-grandson, Lucas Christiano as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her first husband, William Haase; second husband, James Orlow; daughter, Mary Kay Pocus; son-in-law, Nick Granata and her brothers and sisters.

Alma spent many years in Burbank prior to moving to Plainfield.  She attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood and thoroughly enjoyed her role at the parish school in the cafeteria where the students lovingly referred to her as "Grandma".  Lunch get-togethers with her friends were also a source of happiness for Alma.

Visitation will be held Saturday morning, February 8, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. until prayers begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Avenue (Rt. 59) Shorewood, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be held at a later date at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alma's name can be made to Lightways Hospice or Holy Family School.
