Obituary of Geraldine "Sis" J. McTague
Geraldine J. “Sis” McTague, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. Geraldine was born in Morris on April 27, 1932, to the late Stanley and Jeanette Stutzki, and she remained a lifetime Morris area resident. On June 26, 1955, Geraldine married Gerald “Jerry” McTague at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the two celebrated 43 years of marriage before his passing in 1998. Sis and Jerry had four children, and going forward, her time was spent enjoying sporting events, recitals, graduation ceremonies, and any other activities involving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of her other favorite pastimes included baking, watching hummingbirds, music, sewing, knitting, walking 3 miles a day, and crafting, including making felt Christmas ornaments. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, high school and college wrestling, and the University of Illinois and the University of Iowa sports teams.
Geraldine is survived by her children, Sherrie (Michael) Welch, Kimberly McTague, and Brian (Cori) McTague; her daughter-in-law, Denise Lawson; her 9 grandchildren, Todd (Olivia) Welch, Mackenzie (Pasquale) Gapastione, Tara (Jon) Larson, Jessica (J.T.) Strube, Laura Baker, Erin (Peter) Ortegel, Justin McTague, Shane McTague, and Nathan McTague; her 16 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Mia, George, Winifred, Eloise, Owen, Tatum, Adelaide, Coraline, Oliver, Emery, Noah, Evelyn, Augie, Lily, and Quinn,; sister-in-law Merle McTague; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald McTague; her son, David McTague; her parents; 3 brothers; one sister; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Sis is now reunited with her loved ones in eternal peace.
As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Sis’s name to Lightways Hospice in Joliet or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Fred C.
