Carol A. Lathrop (nee Fuss)

Carol A. Lathrop of Shorewood, formerly of Lansing, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Alden Courts on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Carol was born to adoring parents, the late John and Bernice Fuss, on May 30, 1942. She was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, graduating from the former St. Michael High School.

Carol was the epitome of a doting wife of 58 years, to William Lathrop, mother, and grandmother, affectionately known as “Mamma”. Bingo was her game of choice, but there was nothing more special to her than cheering on her grandchildren in every sport they participated in. She was always the most proud “Mamma” in the stands, never leaving any doubt that she loved her grandchildren more than anything. Carol also loved cooking and baking. Baking Christmas cookies was her specialty and her delicious treats will certainly be missed by everyone.

Carol is survived by, her loving husband, William Lathrop; her children, Dawn (Nick) Mottlow, Kevin Lathrop, and Jen (Jerry) Huey; her grandchildren, Ben, Zach, and Kate Mottlow; Owen, Reed, and Addalyn Lathrop; and Will Huey, Hannah (Tate) Scofield, and Mackenzie Huey; one great-granddaughter on the way in early April; brother-in-law Gary Lathrop; sister-in-law Doreen Lathrop and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her grandson, Cameron Lathrop; her parents; and brother and sister-in-law Irvin and Donna Fuss.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Carol’s name to Lightways Hospice.

As it was her request, cremation rights have been accorded.
