Obituary of Robert P. Sheridan
Robert P. Sheridan “Benny” “Bob”
Robert P. Sheridan, passed away at the age 79, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Joliet, IL on July 6th,1945, the son of the late William and Antoinette (nee Hartmann) Sheridan.
Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After 30+ years of being a union roofer, he retired from Crowther Roofing.
Benny loved making people laugh and getting rowdy with friends. Talking about sports and the good old times, with a cold beer in hand was one of his favorite past times. His humor and spirited personality was loved by many, but often got him in trouble in his younger years. Benny lived his life with a joyful, care free attitude, and was one unforgettable character.
As an avid Chicago sports fan, Benny always cheered loudly for the Bears and was a diehard Cubs fan who loved to watch the Sox lose. He loved spending time with his family, especially to watch Wheel of Fortune together. Robert adored his two grandchildren and enjoyed making them smile any chance he got. He was known to secretly overindulge them with ice cream bars.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Sheridan and Colleen (Michael) Phillips; grandchildren, Landon Langel and Haven Phillips; brother, Bill Sheridan (Ruth Condee); niece, Pam (Bob) Reichenbach; nephew, Dan (Barb) Sheridan; devoted former wife, Bernadette Sheridan; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Sheridan; cousins, Sister Lois Ann Stoiber and Rayne Stoiber; his lifelong friends, Tom Ausec, and Terry McCarthy.
The family wishes to thank Davita Dialysis Center on Essington Rd. in Joliet and Hines VA Hospital for all their care and compassion over the past few years.
