Corey James Gibbons passed away unexpectedly at the age of 30 on Monday, February 17, 2025. He was born on October 13, 1994, in Winfield, IL, to Todd and Denise (nee Jansen) Gibbons, Corey grew up in Minooka.

Corey deeply loved sports, whether playing football with friends, cheering on his favorite teams (the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and Chicago White Sox), or watching UFC fights. He never missed a chance to go to a live sporting event, and he certainly never turned down an opportunity to go fishing, especially with his brother. He also enjoyed playing disc golf, poker, and video games. But above all, Corey cherished his time with his daughter, Lillian. She was the light of his life, whether they were off on fun adventures or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Corey will be deeply missed by his daughter, Lillian Gibbons; his mother and father, Denise Gibbons and Todd Gibbons; his younger brother, Cameron Gibbons; and his grandmother, Sharon Gibbons. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who loved him.

He is reunited in Heaven with his aunt Deborah Ufkes; his grandfather, James Gibbons; his grandmother, Sharon Johnson; and his great-grandfather, John Ufkes.

A Celebration of Corey’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rt. 6, at Deerpath Dr., Morris, IL. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded. Corey was never one for formalities, so in his honor, the family asks that everyone wear sports gear or something green—his favorite color.
