Obituary of Barbara A. Attocchi

Barbara A. Attocchi, of Channahon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Serenity Estates of Morris. Barbara was born on March 17, 1937, in Chicago, IL to the late Raymond and Catherine (Wierschem) Young.

Barb was a graduate of Gage Park High School and Capri Beauty School. While raising her children, Barb ran an in home beauty salon providing some of the best hair teasing in all of Burbank until she later joined her daughter Patricia in the Mortgage Banking Industry. Barb retired from the mortgage industry in 1992, at which time she retired to New Port Richey, FL, where she enjoyed 15 years of adventure with her husband Roy before their desire to be near their children and grandchildren brought them back to Wheatfield, IN. Barb was an active member of the St. Cecilia Ladies club often being called upon to bake her famous chocolate sheet cake for funeral luncheons.

Barbara is survived by her children, Patricia Venziano, Jim Izral, John Izral, Kristine Lyons, Jean (Pete) Canfield, Jerry Attocchi, Mary (Kenneth) Ainger, Laura Albrecht as well as 21 grandchildren and 21great-grandchildren. Barb was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Roy Attocchi; her parents; sister, Corrine (Art) Otowski; brother in-law, Santo Rino Attocchi and the father of her children, John F Izral.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Mary Ainger for acting as Barbs POA insuring that she always had the best medical care and financial advice. The family also wishes to thank Lightways Hospice for the care and compassion show to Barb in the past year under their care.

As it was Barbara’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on March, 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Holy Sepulchre Cemetary, 6001 W. 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803. For information, please call Fred C.
