Cheryl A. Ieler, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at the age of 75, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center with her family by her side. Cheryl was born in Joliet, IL, on October 4, 1949, the daughter of the late Lloyd Schneider and Mildred (nee Basich) Schneider. She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy High School, class of 1967.
After graduation, Cheryl married her high school sweetheart, Fred A. Ieler, on June 1st, 1968. She was a dedicated wife and mother, always putting her family first. Cheryl and Fred built a life full of love, laughter, and happiness for one another. Together, they raised their children in the Joliet area surrounded by the love and support of friends and family.
Cheryl and Fred shared a love for the outdoors, spending many weekends camping and fishing. Their adventures were filled with joy and laughter. Cheryl had a passion for planting flowers, tending to her rose bushes, watching birds, and enjoying her favorite cooking shows.
Cheryl faced many challenges in her life, especially after a stroke in 1998. Despite this, she became a true example of perseverance, showing the strength to adapt and overcome any obstacle. After losing her husband, Cheryl was blessed with caring caregivers who ensured she was safe, happy, and well cared for. Her resilience and grace through it all inspired everyone who knew her.
Cheryl is survived by her stepmother Beverly K. Schneider; loving children, Jeff (Christine) Ieler, Sheri (Jeremy) Kennay, and Jennifer (Jason) Pawloski; six grandchildren, Eric (Misti) Rigby, Conrad Ieler, Kara (Alex) Patterson, Emma Kennay, Michael Pawloski, and Lauren Pawloski; two great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Don (Becky) Schneider, Susan (John) Claassen, Joyce (Rick) Swolley, Laura (Randy) Ruth, Bruce (Noreen) Stalter, Lisa (Mark) Baltikauski, and Theresa (Jim) Bender; and her loving and dedicated caregivers, Ginger Murray and Nikki Herman. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred A. Ieler; and her parents.
Funeral Services for Cheryl A. Ieler will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Joliet, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ieler family who will then donate to local charities in Cheryl’s name.
