


Obituary of Carol Anne Talaga
Carol Anne Talaga (nee Houser)
Carol Anne Talaga, age 77, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. She was born in Greenville, SC, on December 2, 1947, the daughter of the late John and Helen Houser.
Carol grew up in Joliet and attended Joliet Central High School.
Carol recently celebrated 48 years of sobriety. She spent most of her life helping others recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. She was also a hairdresser and salon owner most of her life. Carol made lifelong friends through her career and A.A.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Richard F. Talaga, Sr.; her children, Sheri (Daniel) Kerns, Jennifer (Howard) Talaga, Richard Talaga, Jr., and Michael (Tracy) Talaga; daughter-in-law, Olivia Marvick; grandchildren, Isabella, Beck, and Ethan Marvick, Alysa Phipps, Kayla Hines, Brett Kreuger, Milenko Vuckovich, Alexis Vuckovich, Nicole Kastner, Dominique Talaga, Antonio Talaga, Richard Talaga III, Gabriel Talaga, Michaela Talaga, and Autumn Talaga; great-grandchildren, Caleb Phipps, Porter Hines, and Erik and Liam Kastner; and her siblings, Mary Helen “Snookie” (the late Duane) Ullrich, Melody (the late Gene) Payne, and Donna (David) Butler. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded in death by her beloved sons, Michael Marvick and Gerald "Jay" Marvick; as well as her parents; and her brother, Lawrence Douglas Houser.
Carol's legacy of compassion and thoughtfulness will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation for Carol Anne Talaga will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
