“Bob”

Robert William McReynolds, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Alden Estates of Shorewood. Bob was born on April 20, 1939, the son of the late Estel and Sophie (nee Kozma) McReynolds. A lifelong Joliet resident, he was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. Bob served in the U.S. Airforce from 1961 until 1965 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman Second Class.

Bob retired in 1999 from his role as a Union Equipment Operator at ComEd, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Beyond his career, Bob was a man of great generosity. He contributed to numerous charitable causes, embodying the thoughtful and giving spirit that defined his life.

Bob had a passion for woodworking and carpentry, and his hands crafted not only tangible works but also lasting memories for those around him. He cherished traveling and sharing meals with family and friends, valuing these simple pleasures as opportunities to connect and reflect, always making memories. Bob’s preference for organization and attention to detail were hallmarks of his methodical and dependable nature. He enjoyed spending time outside in his yard tending to his flower gardens.

Bob’s presence will be deeply missed, and his legacy of kindness and craftsmanship will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Anthony) Hafner; grandchildren, Emma and Sam Hafner; and his siblings, Edward (the late Mary) McReynolds, Barbara (Larry) Suligoy, and Ronald McReynolds. Two nieces also survive.

Bob is preceded by his parents; his first wife, Mary Ann (nee Pagnusat) McReynolds, and second wife Deyanira (nee Valdez) McReynolds.

Visitation for Robert William McReynolds will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Air Force.
