Mark F. Carey
Age 87, of Channahon, Illinois, passed Friday evening, April 11, 2025, at home with family at his side. He was born September 1, 1937, to the late Constance (Blasio) and Arthur F. Carey in Joliet, IL, where he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Bill Boolman. Mark graduated from Joliet Central H.S. and continued his education at Joliet Junior College and the University of Illinois until he was drafted, serving his Country proudly as a member of the United States Army.
On January 26, 1963, he married the love of his life, Connie Corsetti, who has stood by his side all through the years, maintaining a warm, loving home for their family, ensuring even his final days were filled with nothing short of comfort, love, and continual care.
In addition to his bride of 62 years, Connie, he is also survived by his son, Tom (Donna) Carey; daughters, Lori (Curt) Gruber and Lisa (Brian) Day; grandchildren, Ryan, Mitchell (Angie), Lucas (Sarah), Nathan, Madeline, Chelsea (Lizz), Josselyn (Ross), Nolan, Markie (Zeke) and Carley (Brett); great-grandchildren, Isabella, Colton, Reed, Caden, Liv, Sophia, Shaun, Justin, Chloe, Mya and Ross, Jr.
Also surviving are brother, Thomas A. (Kimberly) Carey; sister, Andrea (Richard) Montgomery; as well as his dear in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his father, Arthur; mother, Constance; stepfather, Bill: and brother, Bruce Boolman.
Mark retired from Corsetti Structural Steel after many years of faithful service. He loved sports, fishing, and his grand and great-grandchildren. He loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame, and UConn women’s basketball. Most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their activities.
Visitation for Mark will be Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Funeral services Wednesday morning, April 16, 2025, with prayer at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 303 W. St. Mary’s St. in Minooka. Interment will be held at a later date in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Lightways Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
