Lisa Marie Bailey

(nee Barnes)

 

Lisa Marie Bailey, passed away peacefully at the age of 58, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Joliet, IL, on March 18, 1967, the daughter of William and Dorothy (nee Sefcik) Barnes. Lisa grew up in Knoxville, IL, and was a graduate of Knoxville High School.  She furthered her education at Illinois State University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. Lisa enjoyed a rewarding career as a Paraprofessional at Riverview Elementary School.

 

In her free time, Lisa enjoyed reading a good book and drinking a hot cup of coffee. Whether it was watching her favorite movies, like 50 First Dates and White Christmas, or spending the day at the zoo, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Lisa will be remembered for her unconditional love, thoughtful heart, her faith, and the meaningful connections she made throughout her life, not only with her students, but with everyone she had the pleasure of knowing.

 

Lisa is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, David Bailey; two children, Thomas Bailey and Sarah Bailey; mother, Dorothy (Rick) Tomlin; brother, Michael Barnes; aunt, Therese (the late Richard) Schreiner; and cousin, Nancy Schreiner.

 

She is preceded in death by her father, William Barnes; and grandparents, Anna and Adam Sefcik and Wilma and Robert Barnes.

 

Visitation for Lisa Marie Bailey will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Jefferson St., Lockport, IL, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Saints Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Joliet. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to American Association of Cancer Research.
