Obituary of Stella D. Planic

Stella D. Planic, age 95, a longtime resident of Minooka, and formerly of Berwyn, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Plainfield, with her loving family by her side.

Born January 26, 1930, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Koziol) Rybczyk.

Stella was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt, and family was the most important thing in her life.  She led a simple life and was always content.  She loved the holidays and enjoyed decorating her home for every season and occasion.  She also enjoyed tending to her garden, listening to big band and swing music, and shopping.

She married the love of her life, Chester J. Planic, and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his passing on January 26, 2017.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Stanley, Victoria, Ann, Lottie, Josephine and Edward.

Surviving are her beloved children, Dennis (Sally) Planic of Shorewood, and Deborah (James) Clark of Brookfield; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Stella Planic will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Resurrection Cemetery, 7200 Archer Avenue, Justice, IL, where family and friends are invited to meet at the front gate of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. for services at 11:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Grundy County Veterans Assistance Commission, or in the form of Masses for the repose of her soul, would be greatly appreciated.
