

Obituary of Ingeborg Coleman
Ingeborg Coleman, age 90, of Morris, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Inge (pronounced Inga) was born April 6, 1935, in Germany. She was raised in Offenbach am Main and was a child during World War II. She experienced war and loss at a young age, including the death of her infant sister, Rosemarie.
In 1953, she married George A. Coleman, Jr., in Switzerland, whom she met while he was stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany. They moved to the United States in 1955 and settled in his hometown of Seneca, IL. A few years later they moved to the Morris community where they lived the majority of their lives.
Trained as a tailor, Ingeborg was an excellent seamstress and was also a very talented upholsterer for Cohenour's Upholstery/Robkim Upholstery until she retired to take care of her grandchildren until they were grown.
Inge had a beautiful home and was proud of her beautiful garden of flowers & koi pond. She was known for her two green thumbs. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, a talent that allowed her to make many beautiful tablecloths, doilies, blankets, and also clothing. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and hostess and enjoyed putting on dinners for her large family for many years and hosting many holidays. She was very proud of her German heritage and was devoted to her family. She loved visiting her favorite German restaurants and picking up some favorites at the German deli in Chicago. She also loved to travel. She made many trips to Germany to visit family and care for her mother. She was an avid Euchre player. She was warm and generous and had many friends.
Survivors include a son, Robert S. Coleman of Morris, IL and a daughter, Krista (Patrick) Durkin of Channahon, IL; son-in-law, Ronald Manns of Port Orange, FL; sister-in-law, Carol (the late Randy Poncher) McCullough of Washington; grandchildren, Christopher R. Durkin of Channahon, IL; Stephanie (Andrew) Struckmeyer of Downers Grove, IL; Jason (Kristin) Durkin of Shorewood, IL; Kevin (Dajana) Durkin of Chicago, IL; Ryan Coleman of Morris, IL; Beth Crockett of Morris, IL; Erica Mann of Port Orange, FL; Veronika (Tommy) Ike of New Smyrna Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Paxton Durkin; Brady & Lucy Struckmeyer; Cameron, Gabriel, Kinsley & Blake Durkin; Alexis (Arty Fernandez) Crockett, Casey Crockett, Cayli (John Hennessy) Crockett, & Justin Crockett; Caden Manns; Riley & Easton Ike; great-great grandchildren, Emmett & Sage Hennessy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, George A. Coleman, Jr; son, George J. Coleman, III; daughter, Heidi Manns; grandson, Devrin Coleman; her parents, August and Maria (Jobst) Simon; three sisters, Helga (the late Joseph) Phelps, Heidi (Hartmut) Haun, and Rosemarie Simon; nephew, Andreas Phelps; sister-in-law, Shirley (the late Max) Ulis, Dorothy Barnes, and Darlene (the late John) Baughman.
Services for Mrs. Coleman will be held privately by her family. Ingeborg's final earthly remains will be interred in Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials in her name can be made to Lightways Hospice of Joliet, IL. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Lightways Hospice for their care of Inge in her last weeks.
