Obituary of Dolores A. Goron
Dolores A. Goron, age 90, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born November 25, 1934, in Joliet, she was the daughter of Phillip and Veronica (Bandosz) Strysik. A lifelong resident of Joliet, she was a graduate of St. John the Baptist Grade School and Providence High School.
A beautifully simple woman, Dolores was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting by number, and later in life found coloring books to be fun and entertaining.
Dolores’ presence, kindness and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Throughout her life, Dolores left a remarkable mark with her warmth, wisdom, and gentle strength. Her legacy lives on in the love and generosity she shared with everyone she had the pleasure of knowing.
She married the love of her life, Raymond Leo Goron, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until his passing September 4, 2021. Her parents, and one sister, Helen Louise Slimack also preceded her in death.
Ray and Dolores were members of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus.
Surviving are her beloved daughters, Janet (Joe) Contreras and Mary Therese Goron-Corpus, her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nolana Gabriel and her sons, Marley, Judah and Ira; Justin (Clare) Goron and their son, Roman Raymond; Kekai (Rhea) Gabriel and their children, Keegan and Kaylee; and Maile (Derek) Ketleson and their son, Leo.
The family of Dolores would like to thank her loving caregiver, Rosita Ramos Tan, whose care and attention went above and beyond what would have been expected. Their appreciation also goes to First Health Hospice for their excellent professional services.
Services for Dolores Goron will be private, and interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Fred C. Dames Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to First Health Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
