

Obituary of Gregory Thomas Janecki
Gregory Thomas Janecki, age 76, of Morris, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 26, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 21, 1948, in Chicago, he was the son of Richard A. and Billie Louise (Duckworth) Janecki. He grew up in the Scottsdale neighborhood by 78th and Cicero, and graduated from Bogan High School.
Greg worked as an Engineer for 38 years, first for Chicago and Northwestern, which was later acquired by Union Pacific.
Greg was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed drag racing, following the White Sox, and visiting with family and friends on the patio.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Valerie (Copher) Janecki; three children, Thomas Gregory (Sylvia) Janecki, Michael (Tara) Janecki, and Cathleen (Brad) Hodge; six grandchildren, Samuel (Elizabeth) Janecki, Michael Acosta, Trent, Andrew and Isabella Allen, and Harli Hodge; four great-grandchildren, Mia, Max, Nolan and Mario; three siblings, Janice Janecki, David (Brenda) Janecki, and Linda (Bob) Juszczyk; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Richard Janecki.
Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
