Nancy Trainor

Obituary of Nancy G. Trainor

Age 70, of Crest Hill, Illinois, passed peacefully at home, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle against cancer.  She was born in Joliet January 25, 1955, to the late Mary (Pasternak) and Nicholas Grzetich.  Nancy graduated with the class of 1973 from Lockport Central High School.  She continued her education at the School of Practical Nursing, receiving her LPN in 1976.

Nancy is the beloved wife of Donald F. Trainor, Jr; loving mother of Donald (Heather) Trainor III, Michael Trainor, and Nicholas (Sydney) Trainor; proud and devoted "Nana" of Adrina and Adalynn; dear sister of Robert (Mary Ann) Grzetich, Nicholas (Susan) Grzetich, and Lori (Rudy) Rosenmayer;  and dear friends, Luann (Greg) Gornik, whose compassion and dedication surpassed 55 years, Jeanne (Dennis) Legan and daughters, Julie Ftacek, Jennifer Neideen, and Natalie Powell. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy will be remembered for her loving heart and brave soul.  She thought her occupation was a privilege, to serve with genuine concern and empathy. She worked as an LPN for Dr. William Meyer and Glenwood Medical Group before retiring as an ombudsman at Senior Services of Will County.

Her hobbies included cooking, baking, shopping, listening to the "oldies", and smothering her family, especially her grandkids, with love and laughter.
