Obituary of John J. Brozovich

John J. Brozovich

John J. Brozovich, age 86, of Minooka, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 31, 1938, in Centerville, Iowa, to the late John and Victoria Brozovich.  He grew up in Crest Hill, graduated from Lockport Township High School, and attended Joliet Junior College.  He started working in construction and started John Brozovich Excavating.  From 1980 until he retired in July of 2000, he was employed by Minooka District 201 as a custodian.

John married the love of his life, Mary Kay (nee Bausano), in 1959.  They moved to Minooka, where they farmed, participated in showing horses, and provided horse boarding. He was always working on “something” in his shop on the farm, which could include a woodworking project or restoration of a classic car.  He enjoyed cruising the neighborhood in his golf cart to check on and visit with his family who lived nearby.

John’s life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his family and a strong work ethic that defined his character. He approached every challenge with wisdom and resolve, always ready with a practical solution and words of encouragement.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Kay Brozovich; loving children, Catherine (David) Wehrle, Deborah (Doug) Chriswell, Michael (Nada) Brozovich, and Mark (Kelly) Brozovich; dear sisters, Betty (Vince) Brandolino and Shirley (Nick) Wittkofski; adoring grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah) Wehrle, Nichole (Cody) Fosdick, Kayla (Tony) Wellner, Michelle (Dustin) Newman, Ryan Brown, Meagan Jessen, Nicholas (Taylor Ford) Brozovich, Lucas (Crystal) Brozovich, Jacob (Caroline Wilhelm) Brozovich, Mitchell (Emily) Brozovich, Maxwell (Kelley) Brozovich, and Matthew Brozovich; and cherished great-grandchildren, Lela and Rhett Wehrle, Bella and Colton Carey, Conner and Crew Fosdick, Emersyn and Jace Wellner, Alexah, Linken, and Kyden Newman, Teagan Brown, Brayleigh and Annistyn Wardle, Brinley Brozovich, and Sophia Brozovich.  Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.

John’s presence was a source of strength to all who knew him. Whether helping with a project, offering a wise perspective, or simply sharing a moment of joy, he made a profound impact on those around him. His hands built, his heart guided, and his spirit uplifted.
