Obituary of Katherine Ann Sheck

Katherine Ann Sheck, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

 

Kathie was born on October 18, 1941, in Joliet and was a lifelong resident of the Joliet area. She graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1959 after which she went on to become a wife and mother.

 

After raising her four children, she went back to school to become a phlebotomist. She spent her career with Heartland Blood Centers doing mobile blood drives and working in their Joliet center.

 

Kathie loved owls and butterflies, reading, listening to country music, playing bingo, scrabble, and playing card games. She also found pleasure in watching Patrick Mahomes play for the Kansas City Chiefs. Her favorite pastime was watching game shows, with The Price is Right and Jeopardy being her favorites. She loved time with family and her kitties that she had over the years.

 

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine (Briske) Reichhardt, and brother, George Reichhardt.

 

She is survived by her brother, Donald (Barb) Reichardt; her children, Russell (Missy) Ruettiger, Denise (Bill) Priday, Karin (Brian) Kelly, Erik Peterson; Zabar her cat; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Parise, Leo (Kasandra) Ruettiger, Kevin Ruettiger, Mary Kate Ruettiger, Christine (Mike) Priday, Cherie (Renee) Priday, Will Priday, Joanie (Jacob) Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Bailey Parise, Addison and Brooks Ruettiger, Aeris, Laz, and Thaddeus Sanchez.

 

To honor her memory the family requests that donations be made to Lightways Hospice, the American Lung Association, or any animal shelter of your choice.

As it was Kathie’s request, cremation rites will be accorded and services will be held privately by her family.
