Obituary of Rodlynn Blanche Gajda

Rodlynn Blanche Gajda, age 78, of Marseilles, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Serenity Estates of Morris, with her loving family by her side.

Born June 19, 1947 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Rodney Miller and Blanche Josephine (Velcek) Gregory, and received her Associate’s degree from Morton College. 

Rodlynn enjoyed a rewarding career as an Executive Secretary in the printing industry retiring in 2009 from Goss International after many years of service.  In her position she travelled to printing trade shows, both domestic and international, with Germany and Texas being two of her favorite destinations.

Rodlynn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren.  In her free time, she enjoyed painting, working puzzles and word finds, and reading.

She met the love of her life, Richard James Gajda, and they were married May 25, 1985 in Naperville.

Richard survives along with their five children, Cheryl (Ronald) Pirc of Plainfield, Stephen (Alexandra) Gajda of Orland Hills, David Gajda of Chicago Ridge, Kristen Evenhouse of Plainfield, and Melissa Panico of Westmont; and six grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Emily, Kristina, Nicholas and Dakota.

Visitation for Rodlynn will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL.  Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Diabetes Foundation (www.diabetesfoundationinc.org) would be appreciated.
