Linda Kurtz

Obituary of Linda L. Kurtz

Age 77, of Plainfield and formerly Evergreen Park, Illinois, passed from this life on Sunday, July 20, 2025.
Linda was born on March 9, 1948, to the late Catherine (Sidders) and Charles Young, in Chicago.  She was raised near Midway airport and graduated with the class of 1967 from Hubbard High School.
Linda is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, John E. Kurtz; she is the beloved mother of Kimberly (Jason) Ross, Pamela (Matt) Sullivan and Jennifer Kurtz; loving and devoted grandmother of Kaeli (Brant) DeMoss, Emilie Ross, Brayden Moran, Naomi and Evan Sullivan; fond sister of Tom (Sharon) Young, Charles (Donna) Young, Geri Young, the late Mary Kay (LeRoy) Harris and Ray Young.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her canine companion, Sadie.
Linda will be remembered fondly by all who knew her as a selfless, kindhearted woman, who possessed a wonderful sense of humor. She loved being a mother. Her daughters were the center of her life and she was there whenever and wherever they needed her.  Linda also adored her grandchildren, having sleepovers with her grandkids where they would play games and watch movies being a favorite thing to do. Her passion for the dogs, “her babies”, in her life could not go unnoticed - often putting their needs above her own.
Linda cared immensely about the safety of the school children year after year, as a dedicated crossing guard in Evergreen Park, for a quarter century. In 2005, the Evergreen Park Police Department acknowledged her actions for her rapid response in an almost tragic event involving a driverless moving car.  Her selflessness and quick thinking saved multiple lives that day.  This one action was the epitome of Linda’s character that her family and friends will remember always.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 Route 59, Plainfield, IL.  Events after the funeral will be held privately by family, as per Linda’s request.
