

Obituary of Lynn A. Hischier
Evelyn “Lynn” A. Hischier (nee Zobel)
Lynn Hischier, aged 86, of Strawberry Plains, TN, and formerly of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband and family. Born on November 19, 1938, to the late Agnes (nee Gorshe) and John Zobel, in Joliet, Lynn dedicated her life to raising a loving family. She proudly graduated from Providence High School with the Class of 1956.
Lynn was the cherished wife of Daniel J. Hischier for nearly 63 years. Their journey together was filled with enduring love and mutual respect, serving as an inspiration to many. She was a devoted mother to Laura (Donald) Maier of Tennessee, and a proud grandmother to Joseph of South Carolina, and Lillian Maier of Maryland. She is also survived by her brother, Alan (Carol) Zobel; sister-in-law, Darlyne Hischier; brother-in-law, Paul (June) Hischier; extended families, the Reeds and Wooldridges; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lynn is preceded in death by her twins, Thomas and Glen, at birth; her parents; her brother, Jerry Zobel; sister, Carol Hartley; brother-in-law, Robert Hartley; brothers-in-law, James Hischier, Joseph (Mary) Hischier; nephews, Tim Hartley and Kurt Hischier; and her beloved in-laws, Joseph and Lillian Hischier.
For 14 years, Lynn worked as a secretary at Amoco Chemical Truck Terminal and found joy in crocheting afghans for charitable causes. She treasured the moments spent having breakfast with her grade school and high school classmates, as well as spending time with her circle of neighbors.
In accordance with Lynn's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
A Memorial Visitation for Lynn Hischier will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd), Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until prayers at 10:45 a.m. Lynn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St., Joliet, with inurnment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL would be appreciated.
