Obituary of Richard O. Moldovan, Jr.
Richard O. Moldovan, Jr.,
“Rich”
Richard O. Moldovan, Jr., age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Aurora, IL. Rich was born on August 18, 1973, in Oak Lawn, IL, the son of Richard Sr. and Mary Moldovan.
Rich was a graduate of A.A. Stagg High School, where he met the love of his life, Patricia A. Weitendorf. Their journey together was one of deep admiration and unwavering commitment. Throughout their marriage, Rich’s greatest joy came from being with his family, especially his beloved daughters, Valerie (28), Amanda (25), and Natalie (22).
He was currently employed as a Plant Engineer with Compact Industries in St. Charles, where his expertise and hardworking nature were widely respected. Known for his handy skills, Rich could fix just about anything, thinking outside of the box and drawing up multiple sketches of his projects, always while snacking on assorted nuts and candies. He loved to be around old cars, especially his 1968 Chevy Camaro and his old and new motorcycles. He found great peace in landscaping and enjoying the outdoors. His love for nature was only matched by his affection for music and his irrepressible sense of humor—he always had a joke, ready to bring a smile to those around him.
Rich’s kind heart, quick wit, and gentle spirit left an impression on everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia (nee Weitendorf) Moldovan; his daughters, Valerie, Amanda, and Natalie Moldovan; his mother, Mary Moldovan; one sister, Kimberly (Shawn) Dyer; his mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Norbert Weitendorf; his two canine companions, “Fergie” and “Olive”; his bird, “Skeeter”; bunny “Hazel”; and the guinea pig, “Bruno”. He also leaves behind numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will miss his warmth and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard O. Moldovan, Sr., and his beloved 17-year-old dog, Ruby.
Rich was the embodiment of love and humor, a man who not only touched lives but also uplifted them. His presence was a gift, and his memory will forever be cherished by his family and countless friends.
