Obituary of James Carlyle Escoe
James Carlyle Escoe, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, in Joliet, IL, at the age of 63, while surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 5, 1962, in LaGrange, IL, James was the son of Roy and Frances Jean (nee Hutchings) Escoe.
Jimmy proudly joined the U.S. Air Force and carried the values of loyalty and excellence with him throughout his life. He worked at Brakur Cabinets for many years and took immense pride in the detailed work; he was most recently employed as a multi-state truck driver with NFI Industries. Always one to hit the open road, he found joy and peace in travel—especially when it took him to NHRA drag races across the country, one of his greatest passions.
He was known as a quiet man of deep care and kindness. Whether he was enjoying the solitude of fishing or the thrill of a live concert with friends and family, Jimmy lived with a quiet intensity and appreciation for life's experiences. He traveled to many countries and loved to sample local cuisine; he was never one to shy away from trying something new.
Jimmy leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Jeannie Kubinski; his brothers, Charles Escoe and Jeffrey Escoe; and his nieces whom he adored, Heather Escoe McCray, Michelle Escoe, and Grace Escoe. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were touched by his steady presence and warm heart.
He is preceded by his father; and his step-father, Robert Kubinski.
Jimmy will be remembered as a kind and loving man—a steady force who found joy in simple pleasures and deep connections. His legacy of care and quiet strength will live on in all who knew him.
