

Obituary of Dolores D. Lombardo
Dolores D. Lombardo, age 97, of Burr Ridge, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, in Romeoville, IL. She was born on August 27, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the late Michael and Cecilia Ostrowski.
Dolores was the cherished mother to Robert M. (Karen L.) Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Maria A. (John Kucera) Lombardo of Palm Springs, CA; beloved grandmother to Robert E. Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Samantha R. (Taylor) Shapiro of Shorewood, IL; great-grandmother to Juniper R. Shapiro; treasured aunt to Michelle Ostrowski of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and was a wonderful aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; cherished husband, Primo Robert Lombardo, and brother, Jack (Jean) Ostrowski.
Dolores was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and as a young girl she found her passion as a ballerina. Her love of ballet inspired her to teach ballet to numerous people.
Dolores met her husband, Primo, by chance, walking past his house. That encounter led to a marriage and life together for 74 years. Together, she raised her children and passionately cared for her family.
She was also an avid traveler. Along with her family, she visited many countries from the Arctic Circle to the south of Australia. Dolores also appreciated music, ballet, opera, and was an avid collector of fine jewelry and antiques.
Dolores was a devout Catholic and truly lived the life that God intended for her, and she instilled those values to her family and friends.
Dolores spent the last eight months living at Story Point in Romeoville, where she was loved by the residents, staff, and physical therapist. She had wonderful caregivers with her at all times, and they were tremendous with her care and truly loved her. Thank you to Joanie, Judy, Maureen, Cathy, Doris, and Nyle, for their love and support, and also, to Vitas Hospice for their care, and compassion, shown to Dolores and her family during this time.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately by the family. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will take place at a later date at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, in Ontario, Canada where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
