Mary V. Sicinski
(nee Jones)
Age 88, longtime Joliet resident, most currently of Romeoville, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
She was born on January 30, 1937, in Joliet, and was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, class of 1955, and St. Joseph School of Nursing, class of 1958. Mary was especially proud of her many years as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mary was an avid reader who found joy in a good book and an even better conversation. She had a wonderful sense of humor and thrived in social settings, where her easy smile and genuine warmth helped her make friends wherever she went. She loved social gatherings, enjoyed a well-made cocktail, and took great pleasure in time spent with others. A lifelong Catholic, Mary held her faith close to her heart and took pride in her Irish culture and heritage. She was also deeply proud of her many ties to Joliet and cherished the strong sense of community and connection it provided throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her two children, Laura (Steve) Spiva of Peoria, AZ and Michael (Christine) Sicinski of Plainfield; six grandchildren, Abby (Brandon) Kaminski and Jon (Hanah) Sicinski, Ben (Madi) Ballard, Annie, Sam and Maggie Ballard; three great-granddaughters, Inge, Elli and Siggi Ballard; brother, Raymond (Marilyn) Jones of Naperville; sister in-law, Carol Sicinski of Joliet; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends and classmates from St. Joseph School of Nursing Class of 1958.
She is preceded by her beloved husband of 64 years, Raymond E. Sicinski; her parents, Francis E. and Mary L. (nee Breen) Jones; brother, Francis B. (Nancy) Jones; sister, Kathleen F. Jones; brother-in-law, Karl Sicinski of Joliet; and nephew, Matthew Sicinski.
Visitation for Mary Sicinski will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Cir., Joliet, IL 60431, would be appreciated.
