Obituary of Carmen A. DeNardis

Carmen A. DeNardis, age 90, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 27, 1935, in San Vito, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Concetta (D’Ottavio) DeNardis, coming to the United States at the age of two. Carmen graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the Class of 1953, and was a veteran of the United States Army.

A proud member of Machinists Local #851, Carmen worked as a machinist for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years and served in numerous positions within the union. He also served as a board member of the former Earthmover Credit Union. Prior to joining CAT, Carmen was a member of Laborers Local #75 for more than ten years.

Carmen was a loving and devoted husband and father, and he was a cherished “Poppy” to his beloved grandchildren. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. He faithfully attended and supported his grandchildren in all their school and sporting events, and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending the winters in Siesta Key, FL, for over 20 years. Carmen also looked forward to weekly lunches with his sister. Family gatherings will not be the same without Carmen’s pasta, which he lovingly prepared.

Carmen met the love of his life, the former Mary Ann Sicinski, and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage until her passing on November 17, 2023.

Surviving are his loving children, Gregory (Janet) DeNardis and Gina (Guy) Jones, both of Joliet; his beloved grandchildren, Emily Jones, Anthony DeNardis, Noah Jones, Nicholas Jones and Jenna DeNardis; his dear twin sister, Maria (the late Frank) Malfatti; his brother-in-law Jerome Sicinski, three sisters-in-law, Helen (the late Paul) Guertin, Lois (Nicholas) Tomac, Julia (the late Richard) Hrechko, and numerous nieces and nephews.
