Obituary of Gregory D. Swanson
Gregory D. Swanson, age 70, of rural Minooka, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2025, at home. Greg was born on April 21, 1955, in Ottawa, IL, to the late Stanley D. and Dorothy E. (Anderson) Swanson. He was raised in the Marseilles and Seneca area, where he attended Milton Pope Grade School and graduated from Seneca High School.
Survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Vicki (Migliorini) Swanson; his children, Danielle "Dani" Malone (Fiancé, Zach Peters), Desiree "Desi" Swanson (Fiancé, Noah Perry); his grandchildren, Maci and Parker; his siblings, Pam (Tom) Salomone and Gary Swanson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Tina Swanson; and his father-in-law, Ronald Migliorini.
Greg had many skills and was known for being able to fix just about anything. Those talents led him to a career in maintenance at Minooka High School, where he worked for the past nine years, and previously at Alexander Lumber, where he dedicated 30 years of service. Greg’s true calling was farming. He thoroughly enjoyed spending over 50 years farming with the Bols family, first with Edwin and then with John. Tending to the land, from planting to harvest, was where he thrived. If he wasn’t out in the field or working, you could find Greg in his garage, re-polishing the already flawless finish on his truck.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until a service of remembrance begins at 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. Cremation rites have been accorded, and Greg’s final earthly remains will be returned to the earth in the spring, not far from the ground he proudly tended to season after season.
