Edward P. Gannon
Edward P. Gannon, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at Lightways Hospice. Born on September 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Edward and Marie (nee Zaworski) Gannon. A graduate of Minooka High School, Mr. Gannon lived a life marked by dedication to his work, his family, his faith, and his community.
Edward devoted decades of his career as a Union Journeyman, proudly contributing his skill and craftsmanship to numerous projects. He was particularly proud of his instrumental role in the construction of St. Joseph’s Hospital, a lasting testament to his hard work, expertise, and commitment to serving others through his trade.
A founding member of the Fellowship Club of Will County and a Friend of Bill W. for 54 years, Edward sponsored, supported, and guided many people along their journeys. His quiet strength, steady presence, and willingness to help made a profound impact on countless lives, and his legacy of service and sobriety will endure in the hearts of those he helped.
Edward was a man who cherished the outdoors. He found joy in gardening, fishing, and hunting, appreciating the simple and enduring beauty of nature. At home, he expressed his creativity and care through cooking and drawing, sharing his talents generously with family and friends.
A parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, his faith was an important part of his life. He drew strength and purpose from his church community and lived out his beliefs through his actions, service, and devotion to those around him.
Edward is survived by his two daughters, Mary (Jim) Keegan and Cindy (Praful) Bhusari; five grandchildren; his sister, Michelle (Bob) Drancik; and two sisters-in-law. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Mulvihill Gannon, and his parents, Edward and Marie Gannon.
Funeral Services for Edward P. Gannon will be held at 9:15 a.m., on Friday, January 23, 2026, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following mass. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Fellowship of Will County, 1703 N. Broadway, Crest Hill, IL 60403 would be appreciated.
