Obituary of Kenneth E. Holmberg
Kenneth E. Holmberg, age 85, of Morris passed away on Saturday, January, 17, 2026, at Morris Hospital.
Ken was born in Chicago, IL on April 13, 1940, to the late Edward and Mildred (Pfhol) Holmberg. He lived in Mt. Greenwood until he was eight years old, when they moved to Worth, IL where his parents opened the True Value Hardware store in 1948. After graduating from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, Ken enlisted into the U.S. Navy and after being honorably discharged, he returned to Worth and worked alongside his parents at the Hardware store until it closed in 1998.
Ken enjoyed coaching and umpiring his son David’s little league teams, leading his Boy Scout Troops, bowling, boating, fishing, and visiting his favorite place, Ludington, MI, where he enjoyed watching the SS Badger Car Ferry. Ken also enjoyed preparing holiday meals with his daughter Susan, especially making their favorite Swedish meatballs. He was very active in the Worth Community serving on the Chamber of Commerce and the Zoning Committee. Ken was an all-around handy man always willing to help out others when needed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara E. (Cochrane) Holmberg; his children, David (Patricia) Holmberg and Susan (Fred) Estelle; his grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) Pizur, Nicole Holmberg, Ashley (Thomas) Coleman, Jessica (Matthew) DiMonte, Amandalyn (Sean) Jackson, Jamie Jackson, Ashley (Jarrett) Rowe, Stephanie Jackson and Remington Estelle; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol (late Sherman) Ovelmen and nephews also survive.
