Obituary of Gayle Lynn Sage

Gayle Lynn Sage, (nee Stalker), age 76, of Round Rock, TX, since 2006, and formerly of Channahon, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Born October 3, 1949, in Joliet, IL, she was the daughter of Robert William and Dorothy Bertha (Hagmayer) Stalker. 

Raised in Channahon, Gayle was a graduate of Minooka Community High School.  While her children were small, she was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom until beginning her career as the Bookkeeper for Channahon School District #17, a position she held for 13 years.

Gayle was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and was a former Girl Scout leader.

An avid reader, Gayle enjoyed genealogy and doing family research as well as spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoying nature and the outdoors.  Her sense of humor and her laughter will be sadly missed by her family.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Dean Sage of Round Rock, TX; her loving children, Ruth (Ken, III) Kleager of Bolingbrook, IL, and James Sage, of Round Rock; two dear grandchildren, Alexis Small and Samantha Sage; one sister, Dawn (the late Bill, Jr.) Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Marie Sage (1996); her parents; and two brothers, Wayne (Martha) Stalker and Lee (Gladys) Stalker.

Cremation rites have been accorded and interment in Willard Grove Cemetery, Channahon, will be private.

A Memorial Gathering for Gayle will be announced at a later date.
