

Obituary of John Nick Argoudelis
John Nick Argoudelis, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Nick and Helen (nee Rousonelos) Argoudelis. John was born and reared in Joliet, and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1952. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
John grew up working with his father and grandfather as a truck farmer and hauling produce daily to the Water Street Market. Uncle Sam required his help during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, he concentrated on the “car business”. He was the used car manager for several dealerships in Joliet and Wilmington, plus operating his own lot at one time. John was considered to be one of the best car appraisers in Joliet. He concluded his working career as a Teamster and owner of Argoudelis Trucking. John was also a member of the Old Timers Baseball Association and the Joliet Antique Auto Club.
John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dianne; children, Nick J. (Debbie) Argoudelis, Deena (Paul) Argoudelis- Tharp, and John R. Argoudelis; grandchildren, Jonathon Argoudelis, Taylor (Kyle) Martinez, and Matthew Vicic; great grandchildren, Hailey Vicic, Ashton and Emerson Martinez, and Jordyn Argoudelis; and aunt, Anne “Thea” Rousonelos.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony and Margaret Rousonelos; uncles, Mike (Eleanor) Rousonelos, and Nick Rousonelos; aunt, Theresa (Horvath) Rousonelos, and cousin, Tony Nick Rousonelos of FL.
Funeral Services for John Argoudelis will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Trisagion service at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to in his name to the “Strike Up The Band” JTHS Foundation, because he was a graduate of the Joliet grade school and high school band programs. They may also be made to the Joliet Noon Lions Club, 1228 Massachusetts Ave, Joliet, IL 60435.
