Obituary of Josephine Ann Buscemi
Josephine Ann “Joann” Buscemi
(née Rodorigo)
Josephine Ann Buscemi, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Silver Cross Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Joann was born on November 24, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Loreto and Anna Rodorigo. She grew up in Chicago, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life. She later married the love of her life, Paul Joseph Buscemi, and together they devoted themselves to raising their family and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love and laughter.
A loving woman, Joann’s greatest joy was her family. She especially loved to cook, and Sunday dinners became treasured gatherings where everyone knew they were welcome at her table. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where stories were told, jokes were shared, and memories were made.
Joann and Paul enjoyed the life of snowbirds for many years before eventually settling in Las Vegas, where they spent 30 happy years together. They cherished their time there, particularly their music and TV nights spent side by side, enjoying the simple pleasure of one another’s company. Joann had a good sense of humor and a warm spirit that made those around her feel at ease.
Joann is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Lawrence “Larry”) Nawrot; her son, Loreto (Michele) Buscemi; and her grandchildren, Disa (Joe) Lesner, Anthony (Nicole) Buscemi, Larry (Ashley) Nawrot, Gianna (Anthony) D’astice, and Christopher (Gosia) Nawrot; her great-grandchildren, Eleni Buscemi, Noalani Buscemi, Miliana Buscemi, Halia Buscemi, Parker Nawrot, Isabella D’astice, and Luke Nawrot; her great-great-granddaughter, Maia Evans; her sister, Jeanette “Cookie” Scudieri; her sister-in-law, Roseann Buscemi; and her beloved canine companion, “Lulu,” along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Joseph Buscemi; her parents, Loreto and Anna Rodorigo; her brother, Frank Rodorigo.
