

Obituary of Cheryl Ann Shaw
Cheryl Ann Shaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 77, at her home, with her family by her side. Cheryl was born in Joliet, on August 26, 1948, the daughter of the late Dorothy (nee Thompson) and Raymond Shaw.
Born and raised in Joliet, Cheryl attended St. Mary Magdalene Grade School and was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School, Class of 1966. Cheryl was a proud graduate of the University of St. Francis in 1997. She worked for many years at Ray Kinney Motors, and was co-owner of Kinn-Shaw. Cheryl also worked at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet Junior College, and most recently was the Finance Director for the Sisters of the Holy Heart of Mary in Kankakee.
She enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends traveling, golfing, baking, sports events, being at the cottage on the Kankakee River, and most of all loved Notre Dame and being Irish.
Cheryl is survived by her sisters, Dorothy “DoRae” (Ronald) Fairbairn and Peggy (Fred) Church; dear friend, Sr. Sue “Susie” Bruno, OSF; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and her fur-babies, Molly and Snowball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Shaw; sister, Susan (Shaw) Gibson; grandparents, Lillian and Samuel Thompson, James and Ann Shaw; her aunt, Carol Talley; great nephews, James Gibson and Zachary Lofdahl; and best friend Lou Ann Kinney
Funeral Services for Cheryl Shaw will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to St. John the Baptist Catholic, 404 N. Hickory St., Joliet, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate.
