Obituary of Alexander E. Bettenhausen

Alexander E. Bettenhausen

Alexander E. Bettenhausen, age 77, passed away on January 15, 2026, at his home.  He was born on July 17, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois.

Alexander was a deeply caring and devoted man whose life was centered around love, loyalty, and hard work. He was blessed to share his life with his beloved wife, LeAnn, his partner from a young age and the love of his life. Together, they built a marriage marked by deep affection, shared memories, and unwavering devotion, finding joy in both life’s adventures and its quiet moments.

A dedicated and hardworking provider, Alexander spent many years working diligently as a steel worker and later as an over-the-road truck driver, roles that reflected his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in honest work. Outside of his career, he found joy in motorcycles and racing, passions that brought him excitement and a sense of freedom.

Alexander’s love for animals was a constant throughout his life. His home was always filled with the presence of cats and dogs, each one welcomed as more than a pet, but as a companion. He found comfort in their loyalty and offered them the same in return, reflecting the gentle, caring spirit that defined who he was.

Alexander is survived by his loving wife LeAnn; brother-in-law, William L. Grasty (Sandy LaPaso); nephews, Todd (Nicole) Grasty, and Craig Grasty (Sarah Britz); and great niece, Olivia Grasty.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Shirley Grasty

Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
