

Obituary of Terrence Kornaus
Terrence Michael “Terry” Kornaus, age 72, of Shorewood, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
Terry was the beloved husband of Diane, and loving son of the late Alex and Wanda (Kostuj) Kornaus. Loving brother of Michael (Lorae) Kornaus, Nancy (the late Philip) Klasen, the late Daniel (Pamela) Kornaus, the late Dennis (Nancy) Kruse) Kornaus, and the late Kathleen (Philip) Clark. Loved by many nieces and nephews.
Beloved brother-in-law to Alice and Larry Doyle, Marian (the late Lee) Polowick, Frank (the late Lois and Christine) Walenga; and fondest son-in-law of the late Adam and Sophie Walenga.
Terrence was born in Chicago and grew up in Bellwood. He was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and president of his senior class. Terry enlisted in the Navy in 1972, and was Yeoman 3rd Class. He then went to Southern Illinois University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree, and later received his MBA for Accounting from Benedictine University.
Terry worked at Henry Pratt Co. in Aurora, for 35 years as an Accountant. Terry was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He liked watching Westerns, going to the casino, and being with his family.
Visitation for Terry Kornaus will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home, to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
