Kenneth Elmer Alling passed away peacefully at the age of 83, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at his home in Morris, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ken was born on November 24, 1942, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Everette and Katherine (nee Wolz) Alling. Following his graduation from Joliet Township High School, he spent most of his life in the Morris area.

In September of 1978, Ken married the love of his life, Lynda (nee Cash) Alling. She mourns the loss of her constant companion, together with their children, Dean (Judy) Johnson of Coal City, IL, Michelle (Tracy) Laird of Channahon, and Brian (Michelle) Alling of Joliet. He was a cherished Papa to his grandchildren, Jake (Shannon) Johnson, Ryan (Bethany) Johnson, Hope (Drew) Ferguson, Jen (Luke) Vilutis, Mason (fiancée Natalie Lindsay) Laird, Max Laird, Jacquelyn Keeton, and Addison Keeton, and to his great-grandchildren Brantley, Nora, and Aloy.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Bonnie White.

Ken worked faithfully as both a millwright and as a farmer, living out a strong work ethic and deep dedication to providing for his family. He took great pride in building his home and caring for his land. A gifted woodworker, Ken especially loved creating and sharing his handcrafted pens and other pieces with family and local veterans. His intarsia work received recognition at the Grundy County Corn Fest.  Above all, Ken loved his family deeply and took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and Papa.
