Obituary of Roy Thomas Heddins
Roy Thomas Heddins, age 88, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Roy was born in Effingham, IL to the late Roy H. Heddins and the late Mary Leone (Hankins) Heddins.
Roy moved to Elwood, IL at the age of 10 and graduated from Joliet Central High School. He went on to work at Commonwealth Edison as a Shift Engineer, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in his early fifties.
Roy was a proud member of Ingalls Park AC, Belmont AC, and the Hog Association in the ABATE club. He enjoyed spending time at RJ’s and the Croatian Club. In his free time, Roy loved golfing, fishing, and hunting. However, his greatest passion was his Harley-Davidson. He traveled throughout the United States on his motorcycle and was a lifelong member of the Joliet, Illinois Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. Roy also loved escaping the cold Illinois winters by traveling to Mexico, where he enjoyed the warm weather, beautiful beaches, and peaceful surroundings.
Roy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roy was a devoted and loving father to Sandra (Ronald) DuBois-Rodriguez, Katherine (the late Les) Jansto, Michelle (Jim) Huddlestun, Maria (Steve) Bobzin, Dianna Ingram, and Lisa Heddins. He was a cherished grandfather to numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Roy is survived by his sister, Judy (the late Jack) Burlison. He was also a beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Garth (the late MaryLou) Heddins and Berlyn (the late Herb) Cracraft.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roy’s name can be made to Lightways Hospice.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of Roy Thomas Heddins on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, Illinois, from 3:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
