Obituary of Kenneth T. Mysliwiec
Kenneth T. Mysliwiec, passed away at the age of 82, on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL. He was born on August 4, 1943, the son of the late Thaddeus and Isabella (nee Moslosky) Mysliwiec.
Kenneth was a proud graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep, Class of 1961, where he was a dedicated member of the basketball team all four years. His love of the game never faded, and he was always ready to talk basketball with anyone willing to listen. He remained actively involved with the St. Ignatius Alumni Association and gave generously of his time to his community, including serving in the Maria High School Fathers Club from 1979 to 1983. He was also a member of the Elks Club and bowled for many years in the Builder’s League during the 1970s and 1980s. Kenneth retired from BMO Harris after a long and dedicated career.
He spent his early years in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago until 1964. That same year, he married the love of his life, Patricia. Together they built a beautiful life across from Marquette Park, where they lived from 1964 to 2006, raising their family and creating countless memories. In retirement, they built their dream home in Shorewood Glen, where they happily enjoyed their later years together.
Kenneth was an avid bowler and golfer, and a devoted reader of spy novels. He loved road trips—whether it was to watch his grandson coach, to try his luck at finding the perfect hot slot machine, or simply to track down the perfect ice cream dessert. Above all, Kenneth will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his steady presence, his quick conversation about sports, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Mary Therese (Raymond) Smuskiewicz and grandsons, Joseph and Kevin Smuskiewicz.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Nolan) Mysliwiec and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Due to his request, cremation rites have been accorded. His family is planning a private memorial service at a later date.
