Denise was one of the first few people to welcome me and my family into becoming a foster guardian. Her warmth, her presence, her openness made me feel like she was an extension of my family and friends. She spoke candidly and supportively. Her kindness, generosity, and guidance touched countless lives. May her memory be for a blessing.

I work at Harrah’s casino in Joliet as a roulette dealer. I have always enjoyed having Denise and Herschel at my roulette table. She was so very kind and treated the dealers so well. Denise loved 17 black and was always very much a leader at tables. If Denise wanted 17, everyone else at the table wanted 17 with her. I have so many fond memories of hitting her favorite number and I loved seeing how much community presence she had with everyone in the casino. I will always be reminded of Denise when 17 rolls around. I wish Herschel and all her family the best. You know good people when you meet them, I’m very glad to have met her.

Denise, was my dearest friend. We shared countless adventures together. She was more than a friend. She was like my sister. we shared good times and bad times we were each others confident and shared many life, events, family stories,and secrets. Of course, we also shared our work world for half a lifetime. It’s hard not to want to pick up the phone and call her just to hear her voice and another story that we could share. I will miss her forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was irreplaceable. She loved them so much and they loved her.❤️
