Obituary of Joseph Edward Perez
Joseph Edward Perez, age 49, passed away Thursday, February, 19, 2026. He was born December 15, 1976, in Hinsdale, IL, to Patricia (Sheehan) and Joseph D. Perez.
He grew up in Bolingbrook and graduated from Romeoville High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology from Western Illinois University.
Joseph was the ultimate Chicago sports fan and could always be found cheering on his favorite teams - the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, and of course the Chicago White Sox. If you choose and have a jersey, shirt or hat of one of Joe’s Chicago teams, feel free to wear in Joe’s memory.
Some of his most cherished memories were the trips he took with his children to watch the White Sox play, going to Jaxson’s basketball and football games, Jessica’s dance recitals and gymnastics, grilling and sitting by the fire, fishing, playing games and just hanging out. Above all, Joseph loved being a father. His children were the center of his world.
Joseph also enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley, embracing the freedom of the open road and the outdoors. Joseph will be remembered for his deep love of family, his loyal spirit, and his unwavering devotion to the teams and people he loved most. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
He is survived by his children, Jaxson and Jessica Perez; parents, Pat (Ken) Sokol and Joe (Lee Applegate) Perez; sisters, Corinne Hunt, Christine (Troy) Jacobi, Lindsay (Bailey) Engel, and Alyssa Perez; nieces and nephews, Ryan & Garrett Hunt, Kennedy & Declan Jacobi, Lane & Isabel Engel; grandfather, Fernando VillaGomez; and the mother of his children, Trina Perez. He was the nephew of Joanne (Jim) Hogan, Michael (Tonyia) Sheehan, Christina (Terry) Cunningham, Stephen (Cathy) Perez, Ralph (Marilyn) Perez, the late Jesse Perez, Richard Perez, Eugene (Griselda) Perez, Maria Alcala. He also leaves behind many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Elizabeth Sheehan and paternal grandmother, Mary VillaGomez.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in Joe’s name.
