Obituary of David C. Stankus

David C. “Dave” Stankus, age 68, of Plainfield, IL, passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was born on June 21, 1957, in Chicago, IL to Charles and Aldona (Shillis) Stankus. On April 27, 1993, he married the love of his life, Monica Orlik. Dave retired from Jewel-Osco, where he worked as a manager. He was an avid golfer and he loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Rams. Dave always made sure that he attended as many sporting and school events for his children and grandchildren that he could. His pride and joy was his family, and there was nothing more that he enjoyed then all of them being together.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Monica; his loving children, Paige (Sarah) Tully, Kenneth (Amie Griffith) Robinson, David (Kyleigh) Stankus, and Colin (Jaelen Lewis) Stankus; two adoring grandchildren, Addison Robinson and Lincoln Stankus; two brothers, Richard (Pat) Stankus and Gerald (Olga) Stankus; four sisters-in-law, Christine Stankus, Judy Stankus, Theresa Orlik, and Christine Budz; one brother-in-law, Robert Orlik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Chuck Stankus, Larry Stankus, and Janet Egan; and three brothers-in-law, Karl Orlik, Steve Orlik, and Ed Budz.

Visitation for David C. Stankus will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, Illinois, from 3:00 p.m., until the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Those who knew Dave, knew that he was very casual and laidback. The family requests for those attending, to come in casual attire.
