

Obituary of Phillip Dinelli
Phillip Paul Dinelli, 82, of Morris passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Serenity in Morris, under the care of Angels Grace Hospice.
Phil was born on January 5, 1944, in Morris to the late Albert and Anna Dinelli of South Wilmington. He graduated from Gardner South Wilmington High School with the Class of 1962 and went on to attend Illinois State University, where he joined the baseball team. There, he met Judith Sherman, whom he married on November 20, 1965. Phil began teaching and coaching at Downers Grove South High School. He then became a State Farm Insurance agent in Morris for nearly 45 years until his retirement.
Phil enjoyed golfing and reading. He also loved spending time in Sarasota and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his son, Brett (Johanne) of Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada, and his grandchildren Angel, Matthew, Tommy, Oceane, Eloi, Theo, and Alizee. He is also survived by his brother, Lou (Karen) Dinelli, sisters, Donna (Dave) Mehochko, Carol (Sam) Rissman, and Nancy (the late Kevin) Kociss, his sister and brother-in-law, Carol Stockinger and Tom (Cindy) Sherman, and several nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (2020), his son, Jeff (2026), and his parents.
According to Phil’s wishes, there will be no services, and cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Operation St. Nick or the Illinois State University baseball program.
