Obituary of Laura Susan Wasko

Laura Susan Wasko, 71, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Joliet surrounded by the love of her family.  Laura was born on January 27, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Claude and Patricia White. She grew up in Burbank, Illinois, where she was a graduate of Reevis High School.

 

For 31 years, Laura was employed as a clerk with Norfolk Southern Railroad, from which she retired. She was known as a loving and generous person, qualities that were evident in both her professional life and her life at home.

 

Laura enjoyed spending time with her husband attending auctions, a shared pastime that brought them much enjoyment over the years. She had a particular love for dogs, especially Great Danes, and she expressed this love through rescuing and fostering many of them throughout her life.

 

Laura is survived by her husband of 30 years, Brian Scott Wasko; her daughter, Jennifer (Joseph) LeClair; grandchildren, Adam (Jessie) Swetlik and Gabrielle (Dylan) Gloger; great-grandchildren, Ryan Gloger, and Beau, Theo, Cove, and Haze Swetlik; and her brother, Robert (Rose) White. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

 

She is preceded by her parents.

 

Inurnment for Laura Susan Wasko will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026.  Family and friends are invited to meet at 1:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL for a procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois for committal prayers and inurnment at 2:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
