

Obituary of Frederick M. Ross
Fred passed away in Joliet on Saturday, March 21, 2026, one day shy of his 63rd birthday. Fred was born in Hinsdale, IL, the son of the late Ernest and Eleanor (Sorenson) Ross. He graduated from Hinsdale High School with the Class of 1981 and attended Illinois State University. Fred was formerly employed as a Toll Audit Manager for the Illinois State Tollway, retiring in 2023 following 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and had a deep love for most sports. He enjoyed boating and shooting guns. A true outdoorsman with a special appreciation for squirrels. Family game nights were an important part of his life.
Surviving are his loving wife, Karyn (Pullia) Ross of Plainfield; his three children, Spencer (Stephanie) Ross of Joliet, Mitchell Ross of Plainfield and Catherine (Kevin Stewart) Ross of Ottawa, IL; his sister, Joyce (Randy) Orr of Albuquerque, NM and his brother, Bill (Cathy) Ross of Maricopa, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by his parents and his sister, Diane Wisniewski.
Funeral services for Frederick M. Ross will be Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rds., Joliet. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services and his final earthly remains will take one last boat ride aboard his pontoon, Serenity. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
